TSE Awards Market Maker Awards for the Carbon Credit Market

Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) recently awarded the Best Market Maker and Good Market Maker accolades to the top four companies involved in its Market Maker Scheme for the Carbon Credit Market for the fiscal year 2025. The Scheme, which began on April 28, 2025, specifically focuses on the “Energy-Saving” and “Renewable Energy (Electricity)” trading categories of J-Credits.

The following four outstanding market makers met the rigorous standards set by TSE and were recognized for their invaluable contributions. These awards are part of the “FY2025 Green Transformation League Operation Project Fund (GX League Secretariat Operation and Environmental Improvement Project for Voluntary Emissions Trading by GX League Participating Companies),” a project initiated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and entrusted to TSE by Nomura Research Institute, Ltd.

The Best Market Makers for 2025 included Sumitomo Corporation, Daiwa Securities Co. Ltd., and Mizuho Bank, Ltd., all of which excelled in both the Energy Saving J-Credits and Renewable Energy (Electricity) J-Credits categories. Meanwhile, Marubeni Corporation was recognized as a Good Market Maker for achieving the set standards in the Renewable Energy (Electricity) J-Credits category.

TSE’s recognition of these market makers signifies its commitment to enhancing the carbon credit market in alignment with the government’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality. By acknowledging and rewarding companies that excel in promoting sustainable practices and contributing to environmental preservation, TSE aims to encourage further participation and investment in the carbon credit market.

This initiative not only highlights the importance of environmental sustainability but also emphasizes the role of market makers in facilitating the trading of carbon credits. Through their expertise and dedication, these market makers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and liquidity of the carbon credit market, ultimately contributing to the mitigation of climate change and the transition towards a more sustainable future.

TSE’s ongoing efforts to support and promote the carbon credit market underscore its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. By recognizing the outstanding contributions of market makers, TSE reinforces the importance of sustainable practices and encourages active participation in initiatives that aim to combat climate change and protect the environment.

In conclusion, TSE’s Market Maker Awards for the Carbon Credit Market not only celebrate the achievements of top-performing companies but also serve as a reminder of the vital role that market makers play in advancing sustainability and environmental conservation. As TSE continues to champion sustainability and support initiatives that promote a greener future, it reinforces its position as a key player in the global transition towards a more environmentally conscious and responsible economy.
