In Texas politics, the landscape is shifting, like observing a family feud unfolding at a coffee house. Long dominated by Republican Yellow Dogs, the state hasn’t seen a Democratic senator since 1993. However, things are heating up as Senator John Cornyn gears up for the reelection battle.

On the Democratic front, Colin Allred recently exited the race, leaving James Talarico, a state representative and Presbyterian minister, as the front runner for the nomination. Cue Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett from Dallas entering the race, igniting controversy in its wake. This firestorm was fueled by a Dallas-based TikTok user, “morga_tt,” who leaked a private conversation where Talarico allegedly made a distasteful comment about Crockett challenging him as a black woman.

Senator John Cornyn faced stiff competition from the controversial state Attorney General Ken Paxton, known for his right-wing views and a laundry list of scandals, including impeachment and fraud allegations. The entry of MAGA Republican Congressman Wesley Hunt further complicated the dynamics, making a runoff almost imminent.

As tensions escalated, Paxton’s campaign took jabs at Cornyn’s PACs, hinting at the senator’s imminent downfall. However, Cornyn’s rebuttal targeted Paxton’s personal life, adding a layer of soap opera drama to the primary.
