Denver company reduces workforce by 350 as part of efficiency efforts driven by artificial intelligence

Angi Inc., a Denver-based company specializing in home services, has recently made the decision to reduce its global workforce by approximately 350 employees. The company is undergoing a restructuring process and is placing a greater emphasis on utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance overall efficiency.

The layoffs were disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where Angi stated that it anticipates incurring restructuring charges ranging from $22 million to $30 million due to the job cuts. These costs, which include expenses related to severance packages, employee benefits, and other associated costs, will be spread out between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.

Angi expects that the layoffs and associated measures will lead to annual savings of approximately $70 million to $80 million in operating expenses and capital expenditures. Despite the reduction in workforce, Angi continues to connect homeowners and customers with a diverse range of professionals in over 500 different categories, such as home repairs, renovations, cleaning, and landscaping.

While the exact number of affected employees in the Denver area remains unclear, a spokesperson for Angi reassured that the impact in the city is minimal compared to the overall workforce. The layoffs were carried out over a few weeks in January, with the goal of positioning the company for future growth and enhancing its mission of delivering quality services.

The layoffs coincide with Angi’s strategic shift towards integrating AI technology into its operations. For instance, the company introduced an AI Helper tool last June, aimed at simplifying the process of connecting homeowners with top-rated service providers. By allowing homeowners to describe their requirements in simple terms, Angi’s AI system refines these requests into a format that is easily understood by service professionals.

Angie Hicks, a co-founder of Angi, emphasized the importance of adapting to the evolving needs of the community, particularly among millennials who may feel overwhelmed by home improvement projects. The company’s commitment to innovation is evident in its investment in AI capabilities and an AI-first approach across various aspects of its operations.

In a shareholder letter from the third quarter of 2025, Angi highlighted its progress in building a robust AI department and leveraging AI technologies in multiple facets of its business. The company continues to deploy AI solutions in areas such as coding, design, product development, content creation, marketing, sales prospect identification, and more.

Despite the recent workforce reduction, Angi remains dedicated to providing exceptional services to homeowners and professionals alike. The company’s focus on innovation and efficiency through AI integration underscores its commitment to delivering quality outcomes for all stakeholders involved in the home services industry.
