LIC shares soar following strong Q3 earnings report

State-owned life insurer LIC saw a significant boost in its stock value on Friday morning, with shares surging over 7 per cent. This increase came after the company reported a 17 per cent increase in net profit for the third quarter ending in December 2025.

On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the stock rose by 6.99 per cent to Rs 899.20, while at the National Stock Exchange (NSE), shares climbed 7.10 per cent to Rs 899.40.

LIC’s impressive financial performance was reflected in its quarterly results as it recorded a net profit of Rs 12,958 crore, marking a notable improvement from the previous year’s figure of Rs 11,056 crore. This increase was attributed to growth in new business and investment income.

According to a regulatory filing, LIC witnessed a rise in its net premium income during the quarter, reaching Rs 1,25,613 crore compared to Rs 1,06,891 crore in the same period the previous year. Additionally, the total income for the latest December quarter was reported at Rs 2,33,984 crore, an improvement from Rs 2,01,994 crore in the corresponding period the previous year.

The insurer also saw growth in income from investments, with the figure increasing to Rs 1,07,608 crore from Rs 94,336 crore in the same quarter the previous year. These financial results highlight LIC’s strong performance and position as the country’s largest insurer, showcasing its ability to generate substantial profits and revenue consistently.

Overall, LIC’s positive financial performance in the third quarter of 2025 reflects its solid business strategies, effective investment management, and continued growth in new business segments. The company’s ability to deliver strong financial results amidst challenging market conditions underscores its resilience and stability in the insurance sector.
