$19.16 Million Settlement Reached in False Advertising Class Action Lawsuit against Joint Juice
Consumers who bought Joint Juice in New York between December 5, 2013, and December 28, 2021, may be able to receive approximately $50 per product from a class action settlement. Premier Nutrition Corp. has agreed to pay $19.16 million to resolve allegations of false advertising regarding the joint health benefits of Joint Juice products.
To be eligible to claim compensation, individuals must have purchased any Joint Juice product in New York within the specified period. The eligible products include Drops, On the Go! powder mix stick packets in either seven-pack or 30-pack options, Easy shot liquid concentrate in 1-liter bottles, Extra strength Easy shot liquid concentrate in 1-liter bottles, Ready-to-drink beverage bottles available in six-pack or 30-pack options, and Extra strength ready-to-drink beverage bottles available in either six-pack or 24-pack options.
There are two categories of class members: Direct payment class members who are identified through retailer records and will automatically receive compensation based on the number of Joint Juice units recorded, and Claim-in class members who did not receive a notice but purchased the product in New York during the specified period must file a claim to receive compensation.
Excluded from the class are those who purchased Joint Juice for resale, individuals who bought Joint Juice outside of New York (a separate settlement exists for purchases in other states), and those who timely and properly exclude themselves from the class.
Each eligible class member can claim approximately $50 per unit purchased in New York during the covered period. Direct payment class members will automatically receive payment based on the units recorded in their notice, with the option to file a claim for additional units. Claim-in class members can claim up to six units without providing receipts, but must provide proof for additional units.
The settlement administrator may adjust the actual payment received by class members based on the total number of claims filed and other factors outlined in the settlement agreement. Eligible class members can submit a claim online or through a PDF form that can be mailed to the settlement administrator. The deadline to file a claim is May 15, 2026.
Proof of purchase is required for individuals who purchased more than six units, while those who purchased up to six units do not need to submit any documentation. The settlement fund of $19,160,186.47 includes costs for administration and distribution, attorneys’ fees and expenses, a service award to the class representative, and payments to eligible class members.
If there are remaining funds after all claims and costs are paid, the money will be donated to the Rheumatology Research Foundation. The settlement payout will occur after the court resolves any appeals and grants final approval of the settlement. The class action lawsuit alleged that Premier Nutrition Corp. deceptively marketed the joint health benefits of Joint Juice products. Both parties agreed to settle in 2025 to avoid the risks and expenses associated with ongoing appeals and further litigation.
