Former partner of Justin Sun accuses CZ of market manipulation
Allegations of market manipulation have surfaced, with Justin Sun’s alleged ex-girlfriend claiming that CZ and Binance worked with Tron to manipulate TRX markets. The alleged tactics involved using paid KOL networks and insider trading strategies, which could draw attention from regulators.
The scheme outlined by the ex-girlfriend involves Binance employees creating multiple accounts to artificially boost TRX prices through coordinated purchasing and subsequently selling off in large quantities. This practice directly impacted unsuspecting retail investors who may have been unaware of the behind-the-scenes activities.
The regulatory backdrop is crucial in this scenario, as the SEC had previously accused Sun of engaging in ‘fraud and market manipulation’ back in 2023. If these recent allegations are proven true, they could shed light on a coordinated effort between a prominent coin issuer, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, and influencer networks. This blurring of lines between legitimate marketing practices and illicit manipulation raises concerns about the integrity of the cryptocurrency market.
Interestingly, despite these serious accusations, the market has not displayed a significant reaction. TRX has only experienced a modest 2.6% increase in value over the past 24 hours, indicating that many traders are not placing much weight on these allegations. However, if substantial evidence is presented to the SEC, both CZ and the broader exchange industry could come under intense scrutiny for their alleged involvement in market manipulation activities.
