Deckers’ Unexpected Strong Performance Leads Wall Street to Reevaluate the Situation

Deckers Outdoor Corp has managed to surprise investors with a stunning earnings report that exceeded expectations. The company’s stock skyrocketed by 14.2% in extended trading after they revealed record-breaking figures for both revenue and profit in their third-quarter report for fiscal year 2026.

This surge in stock price has already exceeded the company’s target price forecast, and it is likely to continue climbing higher. Deckers also raised its guidance for the year, projecting earnings per share (EPS) between $6.80 and $6.85, above the previous estimate of $6.30 to $6.39 per share. Net sales estimates were also increased to $5.40 to $5.425 billion from the previous projection of $5.35 billion.

The outstanding performance was driven by the strong demand for their HOKA and UGG brands, with HOKA experiencing a growth rate of high teens and generating around $629 million in revenue. UGG brand net sales also rose by 4.9% to $1.305 billion, surpassing predictions. These results highlight Deckers’ continuous expansion in the footwear market and its ability to maintain pricing strength despite the fluctuating retail environment.

Despite the optimistic outlook, analysts are approaching Deckers cautiously due to concerns about the sustainability of HOKA’s growth, UGG’s growth trajectory, and the already high valuation. Although the company’s earnings growth is strong, it may not be enough to justify a significant increase in the stock’s multiple. Deckers’ management has also indicated that they will continue to invest in marketing and innovation rather than focusing solely on maximizing profits in the short term.

Tariffs are another factor impacting Deckers’ performance, with management estimating a $110 million impact for fiscal year 2026. However, despite higher costs, the company managed to maintain a strong gross margin of 59.8%. If the US Supreme Court decides to remove or reduce the tariffs, this could result in margin relief and potentially faster EPS growth than the current guidance indicates. This could lead to estimate revisions and increased confidence from investors regarding the company’s growth prospects.

In conclusion, Deckers’ impressive earnings report has positioned the company for further growth despite some uncertainties. Investors are optimistic about the company’s future prospects, but analysts remain cautious due to various factors that could impact the stock’s performance in the coming months.
