Trump’s profits reach $4 billion
At the beginning of his first term, Donald Trump assured the public that he and his family would not engage in any activities that could be perceived as taking advantage of his position as President. However, as he entered his second term, the situation seemed to change drastically. Trump and his family members began signing numerous foreign deals with questionable conflicts of interest. Additionally, they launched several cryptocurrency ventures, all seemingly capitalizing on Trump’s status as President to attract buyers and investors. According to ethics watchdogs, no other President has been so blatantly involved in self-serving activities on such a massive scale. Trump himself admitted that he felt empowered to do so because he believed that nobody would care about his actions.
During my previous investigation in August, I carefully excluded pre-existing businesses and assets owned by Trump before the presidency to avoid unfair judgment. To determine the extent of the profits made by Trump and his immediate family due to his presidential status, I left out assets that could not be readily cashed out without risking a drop in their value. Despite these measures, the total amount of profit made by the Trump family was estimated to be around $3.4 billion. Since then, their business activities have only increased, prompting the need for an updated tally of their financial gains.
One notable source of profit for the Trump family was through American Bitcoin, a company focused on mining new bitcoins with the intention of hoarding them. Eric and Donald Trump, Jr., contributed their family name to American Bitcoin, leading to a significant stake in the company. This stake, estimated to be worth over $200 million, added to the family’s overall profit margin. In addition to American Bitcoin, the Trumps also made substantial profits through World Liberty Financial, a digital finance startup with strong ties to the family. This venture included the creation of a stablecoin called USD1, promising to maintain a fixed value in dollars while investing in U.S. Treasury bonds to generate returns on circulating funds.
Overall, the Trump family’s profits from their business endeavors linked to Trump’s presidency have continued to increase, with the total reaching $3.5 billion by the end of his first year back in office. These profits have raised concerns among observers about the potential conflicts of interest and ethical implications of leveraging the presidential status for personal financial gain. Despite skepticism and ethical questions surrounding their ventures, the Trump family shows no signs of slowing down their business activities, posing a challenge for the oversight of presidential conduct and accountability.
