Drake, Adin Ross, and Stake included in recent civil RICO lawsuit
Drake, Adin Ross, and gambling platform Stake are involved in a new civil RICO class action lawsuit that focuses on accusations of illegal gambling promotion and fake music streaming activities. This marks the third lawsuit of its kind involving these parties, following similar legal actions last year.
According to reports, Drake, Adin Ross, Stake, and George Nguyen are named as defendants in this recent lawsuit that was filed in the United States. The lawsuit alleges that these parties used Stake’s tipping feature to transfer money among themselves. These funds were supposedly used to artificially inflate Drake’s music streams on major digital platforms. The plaintiffs in the complaint allege that through Stake’s Tipping function, the defendants financed artificial streaming to create fraudulent streams of Drake’s music, boost his popularity, undermine competitors and music label executives, manipulate recommendation algorithms, and hide the financial transactions.
The lawsuit also claims that Drake was complicit in allowing concealed transfers to appear as giveaways that were mostly inaccessible to the public. It references a reported $100,000 tip transfer between Adin Ross and Drake in 2023. The lawsuit points to Drake’s “Drizzmas” livestream with Ross in 2024 as an example of the defendants circulating tips to encourage botting and paid engagement activities. Moreover, it mentions Stake allegedly gifting a $220,000 car to Ross days before the New Year’s Eve lawsuit submission.
The case, which seeks $5 million in damages, was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia by LaShawnna Ridley and Tiffany Hines, described in the filing as Stake.us users within the U.S. This legal action comes after similar lawsuits against Drake in New Mexico and Missouri from the previous year. This recent filing follows a livestream where Drake reportedly gave away a portion of his Stake earnings.
These allegations shine a light on the murky world of sports betting, music streaming, and social media promotion, showcasing the potential legal issues that can arise in this industry. It remains to be seen how this new lawsuit will impact the parties involved and whether it will have any far-reaching consequences for their careers and businesses. As legal proceedings advance, more details are likely to emerge, shedding further light on the allegations and potential repercussions for the defendants.
