Lady Cats defeat Carlyle at B.E. Gum

The Lady Cats of Salem High School secured a thrilling victory against Carlyle in their home opener at B.E. Gum. The game was neck-and-neck, with Salem trailing in the last 2 minutes. However, a pivotal 3-pointer by Shelby Johnson followed by a crucial bucket from Jordan Kessler helped the Lady Cats take the lead at 44-43. The game was sealed with two late free throws from sophomore Katee Sellers, breaking Salem’s two-game losing streak and elevating them to a 4-2 record for the season.

Leading the scoring for Salem was Jordan Kessler with 13 points, followed by Sellers with 9 points, Shelby Johnson with 8 points, and Marah Johnson with 7 points. Carlyle, on the other hand, saw Alex Johnson shining in the second half with an impressive 16 points, while Addie Gansuer contributed 14 points to their effort.

In the junior varsity game, Salem dominated with a clear victory of 43-16 to kick off the evening. The team’s success was evident across both levels of play, showcasing their depth and talent throughout the program.
