“12/04/2025 – Howard L. Maschhoff to Speak at WJBD”

Howard L. Maschhoff, a cherished member of the Hoyleton community, passed away on November 30, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on February 16, 1930, Howard was the son of Albert and Ella Maschhoff. He tied the knot with June Vore on July 15, 1961, in Wamac, sharing over five decades of marriage until her passing on November 17, 2015.

Howard leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his children: Donna Steinkamp of Carlyle, Brenda Jean Bierman of Salem, and Brian (Marla) Maschhoff of Casey. His grandchildren, Jason (Stacie) Steinkamp, Mallory (Corey) Foster, Tyler (Darbie) Maschhoff, and Karlee (Dalton) Hefner, along with his great-grandchildren, remember him fondly. He is also survived by his sister, Helen (Rene) Corcoran of NC.

In addition to his wife June, Howard is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ella, his brother William, and his son-in-law Kenneth Steinkamp. Howard’s upbringing on the family farm instilled in him a sense of gratitude for the land and hard work. In addition to farming, he ventured into HVAC work until the age of eighty-six, establishing his business, Maschhoff’s Electric. He passed on his knowledge to his son, who followed in his footsteps and started his enterprise.

A pillar of the Hoyleton community, Howard was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed in 1944. He dutifully served the church, contributing to the installation of their HVAC system. His involvement extended to the Lions Club and his local bowling team, showcasing his talents both on and off the field. Howard’s enthusiasm for volunteering was evident during Hoyleton’s Hofbrauhausfest, where he dedicated his time to ensure the event’s success.

Beyond his community involvement, Howard found joy in watching Nascar, particularly following drivers like Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Tony Stewart. He shared a love for travel with June, and the couple enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, hoping to strike a jackpot jackpot during their visits. Howard was known for his calm demeanor, being the laid-back presence in his marriage and offering unwavering support to his daughters. A man of faith, Howard exemplified generosity, hard work, and love towards his family.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home, with Pastor Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Howard will be laid to rest alongside his beloved June at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Friends and relatives are invited to visit the funeral home in Centralia, offering their condolences and memories of Howard. In honor of Howard, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Hoyleton.
