VinFast Introduces Two New Electric Bus Models in Europe

VinFast presented two novel electric bus models at Busworld Europe 2025, revealing their EB 8 and EB 12 as they enter the European public transport sector. The EB 12, a 12-meter vehicle, recently received certification following the UNECE and CE regulations, now available for purchase in Europe. The EB 8, a smaller 8-meter model, is soon to be introduced to the market. VinFast’s offering includes a promising five-year unlimited mileage warranty for the vehicle alongside extended coverage for the high-voltage battery and anti-corrosion protection for up to eight years.

VinFast has taken the electric bus market by storm in Vietnam, having operated more than 300 vehicles across five major Vietnamese cities since 2021. The expansion into Europe seems like a natural progression, with a strategic focus on countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, and Central and Eastern Europe.

The EB 8 model, specifically designed for urban routes with narrow streets and heavy traffic, boasts a central motor with an output of 200 kW capable of reaching speeds up to 80 km/h. With a 359 kWh battery, it offers an impressive range of over 290 km under SORT 1 test conditions, even while utilizing the air conditioning. Quick charging at rates up to 120 kW ensures minimal downtime for the vehicle, enhancing its efficiency. Accommodating up to 60 passengers, the bus includes 24 seats, 35 standing positions, and a designated area for wheelchair accessibility, complete with an electric ramp measuring 1,300 mm by 750 mm.

On the other hand, the EB 12 model is a low-floor city bus built for high-capacity urban transportation. With a staggering capacity of 90 passengers, it features two wheel-hub motors, each delivering 125 kW and an 80 km/h maximum speed. The extensive 422 kWh battery pack provides an exceptional range exceeding 400 km per charge under SORT 2 testing. Charging the EB 12 can be done through a CCS2 port at rates up to 140 kW. Additionally, the bus comes equipped with dual-zone climate control, USB charging ports, air suspension, and LED interior lighting, elevating passengers’ comfort during their commute.

Safety is a top priority for VinFast, manifest in their commitment to equipping both models with advanced safety features, such as ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, Traction Control, and Hill-start Assist. Moreover, the EB 12 model boasts driver drowsiness monitoring, blind spot detection, collision warnings, intelligent speed assistance, fire suppression, and comprehensive CCTV coverage, ensuring maximum safety for all passengers.

VinFast’s production of the EB 12 model is set to take place at its factory in Vietnam, with planned commercial operations for both models beginning in 2026. The company has also expressed intentions to establish a distribution network in various European regions through strategic partnerships, aiming to expand its electric mobility footprint while contributing to sustainable urban development.
