Private sector lenders see increase in deposits before Q2 earnings
Private sector lenders, including HDFC Bank, IDBI Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank, have reported an increase in their net advances ahead of the second-quarter earnings reports for the financial year 2025-26.
Kotak Mahindra Bank disclosed its provisional numbers, revealing a 15.8% year-on-year rise in net advances to Rs 4.62 lakh crore in the July-September quarter. Sequentially, the figure grew by 4% to Rs 4.44 lakh crore. The bank’s total deposits also saw an upward trend, reaching Rs 5.28 lakh crore during the same period, marking a 14.6% increase from the previous year.
HDFC Bank, the largest private sector bank in India, reported a 9.9% year-on-year growth in total advances to Rs 27.69 lakh crore for the quarter. The bank’s period-end deposits also surged by 12.1% to Rs 28.01 lakh crore compared to the same period last year. Additionally, its current account and savings account deposits rose by 7.4% to Rs 9.49 lakh crore.
IDBI Bank witnessed a 12% year-on-year increase in total business, reaching Rs 5.33 lakh crore in the September quarter of FY26. The bank reported a 9% growth in total deposits to Rs 3.03 lakh crore and a 15% rise in net advances to Rs 2.30 lakh crore. Its CASA deposits also saw a 4% growth from the previous year, standing at Rs 1.39 lakh crore.
