Jimmy Delinis facing charges of securities fraud by OSC
The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has made a significant announcement regarding Jimmy Delinis, who is facing charges of securities fraud. Delinis, along with his company Azura Futures and Currencies (Azura), has been accused by the OSC of raising almost $2.9 million from 38 investors between October 1, 2021, and July 31, 2024.
During this period, Mr. Delinis allegedly provided investors with investment statements that showcased remarkable monthly returns. However, the reality was quite the opposite, as the Azura investment scheme was consistently losing money. This has led to charges being brought against him under subsections s.126.1(1)(b) of the Securities Act.
Delinis is set to appear in court on September 25, 2025, at 9:00am at the West Gwillimbury Courthouse in Bradford, Ontario, to address the allegations against him. The OSC’s Criminal Investigations & Prosecutions team, a part of the Enforcement Division, conducted the investigation leading to these charges. This team focuses on investigating securities-related frauds, market manipulation, and other forms of misconduct within the financial sector. Their mission is clear – to safeguard investors and bolster trust in Canadian capital markets through effective enforcement measures.
The OSC’s core mandate is to shield investors from unfair, improper, or fraudulent activities, promote fair and competitive capital markets, instill confidence in the financial system, facilitate capital formation, and mitigate systemic risk. Investors are strongly encouraged to verify the registration status of any individual or company offering investment opportunities. Additionally, they should review the OSC’s investor resources available on their website to educate themselves further.
These developments underscore the OSC’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the financial markets and protecting the interests of investors from unscrupulous practices. As the OSC pursues legal action against Mr. Delinis, its unwavering objective remains to maintain investor protection, enhance market transparency, and foster a secure investment environment in Canada.
