Pelosi upset with Tapper for questioning Trump’s ‘insider trading’ accusation
Nancy Pelosi, former House Speaker, found herself in a contentious conversation with Jake Tapper of CNN after he confronted her with allegations made by Donald Trump. Trump accused her of benefiting from insider trading, claiming that she became wealthy through obtaining inside information.
During an appearance on Tapper’s show, The Lead, Pelosi was there to discuss the 60th anniversary of Medicaid when the topic shifted to Trump’s latest attack. Trump had stated earlier that day that Pelosi made a fortune through insider trading with her husband, calling it disgraceful. He suggested that Pelosi should be investigated due to her high returns on Wall Street investments.
The conversation on CNN took a tense turn, exacerbated by a technical issue that required Tapper to read Trump’s comments aloud to Pelosi. Pelosi quickly interjected, questioning why Tapper needed to bring up these accusations when they were supposed to be focusing on Medicaid.
Despite the interruption, Tapper persisted, asking Pelosi for her response to the allegations of insider trading. Pelosi vehemently denied the claims, expressing her support for halting trading by members of Congress to prevent any wrongdoing. She emphasized that if anyone is found to be engaging in illegal activities, they should be prosecuted and face consequences.
Pelosi also addressed Trump’s habit of attacking her and her family, referencing a past incident where her husband was attacked by an intruder. Despite the adversity they faced, Pelosi remained steadfast in defending her family and refrained from engaging further in Trump’s taunts and provocations.
In response to Trump’s mockery of her family’s safety, Pelosi took one final swipe at the president by renaming his legislation as the “Shameful, Dirty, Filthy, Stinking, Lousy, Rotten, Anything-But-Beautiful Act.” This was a clear indication of her disdain for Trump’s policies and behavior.
The conversation with Tapper shed light on the ongoing animosity between Pelosi and Trump, with the former Speaker standing firm in her denials of any involvement in insider trading. Despite the distractions and provocations, Pelosi remained focused on her advocacy for issues like Medicaid and maintaining integrity in government practices.
