Loomis increases pharma business in Switzerland with Kipfer-Logistik acquisition

Swedish cash handling company, Loomis, listed on the Nasdaq-Stockholm, is expanding its pharmaceutical business by acquiring Switzerland-based logistics company Kipfer-Logistik. Loomis has been engaged in transporting pharmaceutical products in temperature-controlled environments in Switzerland through its subsidiary, Loomis Pharma, since 2024.

The acquisition of Kipfer-Logistik, a well-established Swiss logistics company specializing in high-security and temperature-controlled road freight transport for the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, aims to accelerate the growth of Loomis Pharma. Aritz Larrea, the president and CEO of Loomis, expressed that integrating Kipfer-Logistik into their operations will enhance their capabilities in providing secure and temperature-controlled transportation services.

This strategic acquisition is projected to positively impact the group’s operational profit (Ebita) and earnings per share for the year 2025. Kipfer-Logistik, with revenues of around CHF9m (US$11m) in 2024 and a workforce of 28 employees, brings valuable expertise and resources to Loomis, further complementing its existing operations.

Loomis, with around 400 branches spanning 27 countries and over 24,500 employees, generated revenue exceeding SEK30bn (US$314m) in 2024. The company’s international presence and extensive network position it as a key player in the global cash handling and logistics industry.

The acquisition of Kipfer-Logistik underscores Loomis’ commitment to expanding its pharmaceutical business and providing specialized logistics services in the healthcare sector.
