Firefly Aerospace Aims to Raise $632 Million in Initial Public Offering
Firefly Aerospace is currently in the process of preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) that could potentially raise an impressive sum of up to $632 million. The company recently initiated the roadshow for its proposed IPO, intending to offer 16.2 million shares priced in the range of $35 to $39 each. This move has the potential to provide Firefly with a substantial influx of capital, estimated to be between $567 million and $631.8 million.
In the event of a successful IPO, Firefly plans to utilize a portion of the proceeds to repay existing debts under a credit agreement. The company’s prospectus reveals that Firefly currently holds a total debt of $173.6 million, consisting of $136.1 million under a term loan facility and $37.5 million under finance leases and other obligations. By going public, Firefly’s owner, AE Industrial Partners, will retain a significant ownership stake in the company. As per the company’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), AE Industrial Partners is set to maintain ownership of approximately 41.8% of Firefly’s stock and exercise control over more than half of the voting power on the board of directors, which would classify Firefly as a “controlled company” based on SEC standards.
Upon completion of the IPO process, Firefly intends to list its shares on Nasdaq, utilizing the symbol “FLY” for trading purposes. The company currently operates the Firefly Alpha launch vehicle and serves as a payload provider through Millennium. Additionally, Firefly is engaged in the development of the medium-lift launch vehicle Eclipse in collaboration with Northrop Grumman. The company also manages the Blue Ghost lunar lander, which achieved the first successful commercial soft landing on the Moon earlier this year.
Firefly’s foray into the IPO market represents a significant milestone for the company, signaling its growth trajectory and expanding footprint in the aerospace industry. With plans to use the proceeds from the IPO to address existing debts and support future initiatives, Firefly is poised to continue making waves in the space sector with its innovative technologies and mission-driven approach.
