Lancaster University Management School Events Update for July 2025

Lancaster University Management School is gearing up for a series of exciting events this autumn. Researchers and practitioners will convene in Lancaster in September for conferences and workshops covering a range of important topics.

One of the highlights is the second Financial Fraud, Misconduct, and Market Manipulation Conference, organized by the Centre for Financial Econometrics, Asset Markets, and Macroeconomic Policy (EMP). This event, scheduled for September 11th and 12th, will bring together experts to discuss issues such as financial fraud, market misconduct, insider trading, market manipulations, crypto currency markets, and the impact of social networks and fake news on financial markets. Professor Jonathan M Karpoff from the University of Washington will deliver the keynote address, drawing on his extensive research in corporate governance, corporate crime, corporate finance, and legal and environmental economics.

In addition to the fraud and misconduct conference, the Department of Economics, in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London and the Bank of England, will host the third annual Workshop on Nonlinearities in Macro Model. This event, scheduled for September 19th, will take place in Lancaster for the first time and is partially funded by the Bank of England. Dr. Stefano Fasani, Professor Lorenza Rossi, Iryna Caminska, and Professor Haroon Mumtaz will lead the workshop, exploring nonlinearities in macroeconomic models.

The upcoming events in September build on the success of previous workshops held in late Spring and early Summer. Recently, Dr. Burak Boyaci, Professor Dong Li, Dr. Alp Arslan, and Dr. Thu Dang from the Department of Management Science organized a workshop on choice-based optimization and demand modeling, with support from STOR-i. This workshop featured over 30 participants and included keynote speeches from esteemed experts like Professor Kalyan Talluri from Imperial College London, Professor Christine Currie from the University of Southampton, and Professor Pelin Pekgun from Wake Forest University School of Business. These speakers are recognized authorities in their respective fields, contributing valuable insights to the workshop.
