Reed Smith adds two members to investigations and enforcement team in Dallas

Reed Smith, a prominent global law firm, recently made an announcement regarding the addition of Rebecca Fike, an accomplished Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations and enforcement attorney, to its Global Regulatory Enforcement Group. Fike has taken on the role of partner at the firm’s Dallas office. Reed Smith’s Dallas Office Managing Partner, Omar Alaniz, expressed his excitement about Fike joining the team, highlighting her extensive experience in SEC enforcement and investigations.

Fike brings with her a wealth of knowledge accumulated during her time as senior counsel in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, where she managed significant investigations and collaborated with various civil and criminal authorities. Her stellar performance at the SEC was recognized with multiple awards for her exceptional investigative work. Michael J. Lowell, who heads Reed Smith’s Global Regulatory Enforcement Group, commended Fike’s expertise and insider perspective on SEC investigations, noting that her arrival strengthens the firm’s ability to guide clients through challenging legal matters.

Prior to joining Reed Smith, Fike was a partner at Vinson & Elkins, where she specialized in SEC defense, compliance advisory, and internal investigations. She provided strategic counsel to clients on regulatory matters, helping them navigate enforcement risks and comply with regulations effectively. Fike’s broad range of experience includes handling internal investigations in scenarios involving whistleblowers or auditors, along with providing proactive compliance counseling to prevent regulatory issues. She will also provide support to Reed Smith’s capital markets and corporate governance teams, aiding in securities offerings and complex commercial transactions.

In addition to her legal expertise, Fike is well-versed in crypto and digital asset matters, enabling her to advise clients on regulatory and enforcement issues related to blockchain platforms, cryptocurrencies, and other digital assets. Fike expressed her enthusiasm about joining Reed Smith, citing the firm’s global reach and diverse client base as key factors in her decision. Accompanying Fike in her transition to Reed Smith is associate Carolyn Rietig. The pair previously worked together at Vinson & Elkins, focusing on government investigations and white-collar defense. Fike holds a law degree from the University of Chicago Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Plan II Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. Rietig graduated magna cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics, magna cum laude, from Texas Christian University.
