Ondo Finance expands US tokenized securities with acquisition of Oasis Pro

Ondo Finance, a DeFi protocol, has successfully acquired Oasis Pro, an infrastructure provider specializing in real-world assets (RWAs). This acquisition marks a strategic decision by Ondo Finance to enhance its offerings of tokenized securities within the United States market. Oasis Pro holds various licenses, including being registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a broker-dealer, Alternative Trading System (ATS), and Transfer Agent (TA). By incorporating Oasis Pro’s expertise, Ondo Finance gains a competitive edge in the realm of regulated tokenized securities.

Through the acquisition of Oasis Pro, Ondo Finance secures the essential licenses required to conduct business in the US market. This positions the company to introduce fully compliant tokenized stock offerings, a key area of growth within the crypto industry. Previous initiatives in this domain focused primarily on offering tokenized US stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to investors globally. By integrating Oasis Pro into its operations, Ondo Finance’s goal is to make these tokenized securities accessible to investors in the US, thereby broadening the scope and availability of these financial products.

While specific financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, Ondo Finance has revealed that Pat LaVecchia, the CEO of Oasis Pro, will join the company following the acquisition. The fact that Oasis Pro has been a FINRA member since 2020 and has actively engaged with the organization’s Crypto Working Group highlights its commitment to regulatory compliance and industry collaboration. These qualities further bolster Ondo Finance’s standing in the market.

The acquisition of Oasis Pro follows Ondo Finance’s recent launch of the Ondo Catalyst fund. In partnership with Pantera Capital, this fund is dedicated to investing $250 million in RWA projects. This strategic investment aligns with Ondo Finance’s overarching objective of remaining competitive in the swiftly evolving tokenization landscape. Noteworthy players in the industry, such as BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, Multibank, and Libre, have already made substantial inroads into the tokenization sector. The combined value of onchain financial assets is rapidly approaching $25 billion, with private credit and US Treasury debt representing the largest RWA categories.

Moreover, the regulatory climate in the US appears to be veering towards greater acceptance of tokenization. Recent statements by SEC Chair Paul Atkins signal an increasing openness among regulators towards crypto-friendly policies. This positive regulatory outlook, alongside the industry’s growing acceptance of tokenized RWAs, primes Ondo Finance to meet the rising demand for tokenized securities effectively. The acquisition of Oasis Pro is a strategic maneuver in line with Ondo Finance’s vision of broadening its tokenized security offerings and cementing its presence in the US market.
