Tripledot considers IPO and more acquisitions following significant AppLovin deal – Mobilegamer.biz

After completing an $800 million deal to acquire 10 AppLovin studios, UK-based mobile game company Tripledot has significantly elevated its standing in the mobile gaming industry. The company, now one of the largest independent mobile game companies globally, is setting its sights on potential IPO plans and further acquisitions to expand its presence in the market. In a recent interview, Tripledot co-founder and CEO Lior Shiff shared insights into the deal and the company’s future direction.
Discussing the recent acquisition, Shiff mentioned that the $800 million deal has opened up new opportunities for Tripledot, potentially paving the way for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in the future. Despite this significant move, Tripledot remains committed to acquiring more studios in the future without resorting to layoffs as a means to drive value within the company.
Shiff emphasized Tripledot’s unwavering focus on the mobile gaming sector, outlining that the company has no plans to venture into the PC or console gaming realms. With a combined 25 million Daily Active Users (DAU) and nearly $2 billion in gross annual revenue post-acquisition, Tripledot is poised to solidify its position as an industry leader.
Describing the process of finalizing the deal with AppLovin, Shiff noted that the decision to acquire the studios stemmed from AppLovin’s realization of untapped potential within its gaming portfolio. While AppLovin holds a 20% equity stake in Tripledot as a result of the acquisition, they will not have any direct involvement in the company’s operational or strategic decisions, ensuring that Tripledot retains its autonomy.
Despite the sizeable $800 million investment in 10 studios, Shiff views the acquisition as mutually beneficial, allowing AppLovin to refocus on its core offerings and offering Tripledot the chance to ascend to a prominent position in the global mobile gaming market. With an eye on the future, Shiff hinted at the possibility of an IPO for Tripledot, a strategic move that could further enhance the company’s standing in the market.
Looking ahead, Tripledot plans to concentrate on integrating the newly acquired studios and nurturing their growth without resorting to layoffs. Shiff emphasized the importance of adding value to the studios, citing a hiring-focused approach rather than a cost-cutting one. Additionally, Shiff confirmed that Tripledot aims to keep its studios independent, fostering a diverse collection of game developers with a specialized focus on mobile gaming excellence.
