ABC15 Lets You in on Three Major Class Action Lawsuits You Should Know
When you purchase a product, you expect it to deliver on its promises. However, there are instances where companies fall short of their advertising claims, leading to class action lawsuits. ABC15 is currently following three significant lawsuits involving popular beauty and exercise products that have sparked controversy.
One such lawsuit alleges that Proctor & Gamble falsely advertised the presence of retinol in their Olay cleansers. The lawsuit argues that the retinol would wash off when consumers rinsed the cleanser, diminishing its effectiveness. Consumers may not have paid the same price if they were aware of this issue. Additionally, the lawsuit claims that the Olay retinol in the cleansers was not stored or shipped properly, further affecting its potency.
The products listed in the lawsuit as falsely advertised include Olay Cleaning & Renewing Body Wash with Retinol, Olay Nighttime Rinse-off Body Conditioner with Retinol, Olay Smoothing Daily Facial Cleanser Retinol 24 + Peptide, Olay Renewing Exfoliating Cleanser with Retinol, and Olay Cleansing Melts + Retinol.
In another case, Saks Off 5th has agreed to pay $1.5 million in a settlement after being accused of advertising false discounts to deceive customers into making purchases. Consumers who shopped at a California location or online between January 1, 2011, and November 1, 2024, may be eligible for compensation if they have not received a refund or credit for their purchases. The deadline for submitting a claim is March 16, and Saks Off 5th has not admitted any wrongdoing.
Furthermore, consumers who purchased NordicTrack or ProForm workout equipment could benefit from a class action lawsuit alleging that iFit sold equipment with defective touchscreen consoles. These consoles are designed to facilitate live-streaming workouts and other services. While iFit has not admitted fault, they have agreed to settle the lawsuit by offering repairs, refunds, and credits for alleged machine defects to consumers who bought certain models before January 23, 2023. The deadline for submitting a claim in this case is May 6.
It is crucial for consumers to stay informed about these class action lawsuits to see if they qualify for compensation. By understanding their rights and the products they purchase, consumers can hold companies accountable for false advertising practices and seek appropriate restitution.
