Hyundai creates new Future Strategy Division
Hyundai Motor Group has recently established a new division dedicated to crafting future business strategies and spearheading the company’s growth through mergers and acquisitions (M&A), as reported by local sources referencing an industry insider.
The newly formed Future Strategy Division falls under HMG’s existing Planning and Coordination Division, overseen by Vice Chairman Chang Jae-hoo, and will be responsible for managing the group’s investments in up-and-coming startup ventures. The primary aim of this new division is to enhance the automaker’s ability to identify and execute new investment prospects effectively.
Reports indicate that the Future Strategy Division, helmed by Hyundai Motor Company Vice President Jung Ho-geun, will delve into and cultivate fresh business prospects in diverse sectors like artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and urban air mobility.
Moreover, the Planning and Coordination Division will supervise the activities of the new Future Strategy Division, alongside concentrating on group-wide planning and coordination efforts. Its 15 management teams will maintain oversight of sustainable management practices, carbon-neutral strategies, back-office services, and transparent management procedures.
HMG has allotted a budget of KRW14.4bn (US$1bn) for strategic investments through M&A endeavors, including acquiring minority stakes, spanning a ten-year period culminating in 2033. This financial allocation is distinct from the capital expenditure and research and development budgets for the same timeframe.
The establishment of the Future Strategy Division underscores HMG’s commitment to staying ahead in the ever-evolving automotive landscape by identifying and leveraging new growth opportunities through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. This move aligns with the company’s broader vision of innovation and sustainability as it navigates the shifting paradigms within the automotive industry. By actively seeking out and investing in cutting-edge technologies and emerging trends, Hyundai aims to fortify its position as a leader in the global automotive market.
In conclusion, with the creation of the Future Strategy Division, Hyundai Motor Group is poised to drive forward its growth trajectory, foster innovation, and reinforce its competitive edge in the dynamic automotive sector. This strategic endeavor exemplifies the company’s proactive approach to adapt to changing market dynamics and capitalize on emerging opportunities to secure its position as a frontrunner in the automotive industry.
