He succeeds Benedetto Di Salvo, who led the company for three years. Filangieri’s appointment represents a significant move towards strengthening the company’s position as a leader in the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) market.
Before joining Italtel, Filangieri held various high-ranking positions both in Italy and internationally. From March 2021 to June 2024, he served as the CEO of FiberCop, playing a pivotal role in establishing Italy’s largest wholesale telecommunications operator and expanding the national fiber optic network. In addition to his achievements in Italy, Filangieri also made significant contributions during his time as the Chief Technology Officer of TIM Brazil from 2012 to 2014. While in Brazil, he was instrumental in enhancing the company’s services by introducing one of the world’s first Active Sharing projects and launching the TIM Live fiber service in major cities across Brazil. Filangieri’s operational expertise extends beyond telecommunications, as he has served on various boards for companies like TIM Brasil, Trentino NGN, and Flash Fiber, overseeing multiple M&A projects, including tower spin-offs in Brazil and the establishment of FiberCop in Italy.
Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role at Italtel, Filangieri highlighted the company’s enduring legacy of over 100 years in driving industrial and technological advancement in Italy. He emphasized his commitment to upholding the company’s core values of expertise, innovation, and customer-centricity, leveraging his extensive multinational experience to further digitize and propel the development of clients in both domestic and international markets.
Italtel’s reputation is underpinned by its recognized engineering capabilities in network infrastructure design, technological solution development, and deployment. The company boasts a robust partner network, excels in providing advanced managed services, and offers a comprehensive range of digital transformation solutions covering areas such as networking, 5G, hybrid cloud, cybersecurity, automation, and AI.
As part of its corporate structure, Italtel’s share capital is majority-owned by Nextalia, through its “Nextalia Credit Opportunities” fund, with the remaining portion held by Clessidra via its “Clessidra Restructuring” fund. Filangieri’s appointment reflects Italtel’s strategic focus on driving innovation, growth, and market leadership in the ever-evolving ICT landscape through a blend of expertise, technology, and service excellence.
