Donate Winter Weather Items to Sioux City Community House

As the cold weather sets in, the Mary J. Treglia Community House in Sioux City is in urgent need of winter weather donations. They are looking for coats, gloves, mittens, hats, and boots for adults and children of all sizes.

Barbara Newhouse, the executive director of the community house, shared that many of the refugees they support are not used to the winters in Iowa. Coming from warmer climates, they are not prepared for the cold temperatures. Newhouse emphasized, “For most of us, having a warm coat or a pair of gloves is something we take for granted. For the majority of our refugees, it’s something they’ve never had to think about before.”

If you’re looking to help out, you can drop off donations at the Mary J. Treglia Community House located at 900 Jennings St. They are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
