Recurrent Energy Secures Financing for 171 MW Solar Project: Project Finance Update

Recurrent Energy, a company specializing in solar and energy storage projects, recently announced that it has secured financing for the Carwarp Energy Park in Australia. The funding for this project was provided by Westpac Banking Corporation, Australia, New Zealand Banking Group Limited, and Société Générale, Sydney Branch. The total amount of funding has not been disclosed yet.

Located in Northwest Victoria near the town of Carwarp, the Carwarp Energy project consists of 171 MW of solar power along with a 120 MW co-located battery energy storage system. This project is a significant step towards renewable energy in the region.

In another development, DRI, a renewable energy company based in Amsterdam and a subsidiary of the DTEK Group, secured €24.7 million (~$25.93 million) in financing from Kommunalkredit Austria AG. This funding will be used to develop and construct the 60 MW Glodeni II solar project in Glodeni, Mures County, Romania. The company aims to have this solar project operational by early 2025.

CleanCapital, an independent power producer specializing in distributed clean energy, recently acquired a portfolio of 40 projects with a total capacity of 22.7 MW from Kendall Sustainable Infrastructure. These projects, which include net-metering and community solar projects, have been in operation between 2015 and 2018. The financial details of this acquisition have not been disclosed.

Origis Energy, a renewable energy platform provider and solar project developer, secured $533 million in financing from MUFG, a global financial group. This funding includes a construction financing facility, bridge loan facility, and conversion to a term loan. With this financial support, Origis Energy plans to complete the Optimist solar project by late 2025 and the Wheatland solar project by early 2026.

Finally, Nozomi Energy, a company focused on renewable energy projects in Japan and established by sustainable infrastructure investor Actis, announced the acquisition of a portfolio of 12 operational solar projects totaling 312 MW with a Japanese co-investor. While the financial details of this transaction were not disclosed, this acquisition marks a significant expansion of Nozomi Energy’s presence in the renewable energy sector.
