US Courts Dismiss Action Lab Class Action Lawsuit
A recent class action lawsuit against comic book publisher Action Lab Entertainment filed by numerous creators has been dismissed by US courts. This means that creators will now have to refile their lawsuits individually. The lawsuit was initially launched in February 2022 on behalf of creators like Jeremy Whitley, John Reilly, and many others. The court dismissed the case in August 2023, and it was refiled in February 2024 but has now been dismissed again. Since the original lawsuits were filed, Action Lab has not been publishing much.
One of the affected creators, Mark Stegbauer of Ghoul Scouts, expressed his frustration over the legal setbacks. He mentioned that all the time spent on the class action suit has gone to waste and that the chances of creators getting their rights back or receiving compensation seem slim.
It’s important to note that while the class action lawsuit was dismissed, legal experts suggest that individual creators can still pursue their claims. The dismissal was due to differing terms in the contractual agreements submitted as evidence. This means that creators may still have options to seek justice for unpaid royalties and other rights issues they have experienced.
