All3 returns with a strong comeback in M&A deals

All3Media is making a strong comeback in the realm of mergers and acquisitions, according to CEO Jane Turton, who emphasized the importance of having RedBird IMI as supportive shareholders in a volatile industry.

Turton acknowledged that there had been a lull in M&A activities recently, attributed in part to the RedBird IMI acquisition in 2024. While All3Media had been less active in this area, Turton recognized the broader trend of consolidation within the sector, noting the rapid growth of European competitors like Mediawan through various acquisitions, including those of See-Saw Films and The North Road Company, previously consisting of Red Arrow Studio entities that All3Media had considered purchasing.

During a panel discussion at the Realscreen Summit in Miami, Turton explained that All3Media had been preoccupied with its own sales cycle, making it challenging to engage in new acquisitions and establish long-term commitments amidst internal transitions. Turton emphasized the significance of maintaining stability and transparency during these sensitive discussions.

Despite a period of relative inactivity, Turton highlighted recent organic growth within the US market, citing collaborations with documentary producers Barnicle Brothers and development pods under Studio Lambert. However, she emphasized the renewed focus on larger-scale, inorganic M&A opportunities, stating that All3Media is now actively seeking potential acquisitions and partnerships.

Turton expressed the company’s interest in forming strategic alliances with American scripted producers, but with a cautious approach, acknowledging the inherent risks involved. She refrained from commenting on the ongoing merger talks with Banijay but confirmed that discussions were in progress. Turton clarified that any restructuring efforts within divisions like Lion TV US were aimed at streamlining operations to enhance competitiveness.

Amidst industry-wide transformations and market uncertainties, Turton underscored the importance of efficiency and scalability through mergers and acquisitions. She emphasized the necessity of being both efficient and expansive to ensure resilience in the ever-evolving media landscape.

Turton praised RedBird IMI for providing All3Media with a sense of clarity and stability during times of significant change. She commended the shareholders, led by Jeff Zucker, for their commitment, vision, and belief in the value of content and intellectual property. Turton highlighted the shareholders’ ambitious plans for All3Media, stressing the significance of having a secure and well-capitalized entity as a strategic partner in an unpredictable industry landscape.
