JPMorgan creates new private capital advisory unit

JPMorgan Chase has recently established a specialized advisory unit in its investment banking division to assist corporate clients and sponsors in raising capital through private markets. This new initiative, known as Private Capital Advisory & Solutions (PCAS), aims to serve as a hub of expertise for equity strategies and advisory services within private markets, as per the bank’s statement to Private Banker International.

PCAS’s main focus is to provide unique and diversified solutions while offering structuring, pricing, and distribution services for private capital transactions. Anu Aiyengar, the global head of M&A, and Kevin Foley, the global head of capital markets, expressed that private markets are a top priority for JPMorgan as clients increasingly require innovative and tailored solutions to address their complex capital needs.

Leading the PCAS team globally is Keith Canton, who has been with JPMorgan since 2015 and has served as the head of the Americas Equity Capital Markets (ECM) team for the past three years. Canton will directly report to Aiyengar and Foley, who both highlighted his expertise as crucial in building a strong global PCAS team that delivers exceptional value to clients.

Tilman Pohlhausen, who has overseen the private capital advisory business in recent years, will now supervise this activity on a global scale within the new structure, reporting to Canton directly. Aiyengar and Foley emphasized the importance of collaboration across various sectors within the firm, including Coverage, M&A, and ECM, to fully support issuer clients.

Additionally, PCAS will closely collaborate with other departments across the organization, such as Strategic Financing Solutions (SFS) and Debt Capital Markets (DCM), to provide comprehensive and innovative solutions for a wide range of private capital requirements. The success of PCAS is dependent on this strong inter-departmental collaboration to ensure the delivery of holistic solutions to meet the diverse needs of clients.

In conclusion, JPMorgan’s creation of the Private Capital Advisory & Solutions unit highlights its commitment to addressing the evolving needs of clients in private markets by offering tailored and innovative strategies. With a dedicated team led by industry experts, the bank aims to provide clients with exceptional value and comprehensive solutions that meet their specific capital requirements in an increasingly complex financial landscape.
