James Oldman, a resident of Arapahoe, has been given a life sentence in federal prison for a crime that has been described as “brutal, senseless, and horrific” by the prosecutor. The sentencing was carried out by U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl in Casper, marking a conclusion to a case that began on November 22, 2017, when Oldman was convicted by a jury of first-degree murder for the violent and deadly assault on Charles Dodge, III. Jori Lamebull, the final accomplice, was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison, to be followed by a three-year period of supervised release. In addition to their prison terms, each of the accomplices were ordered to pay restitution amounting to $11,864.74.

The physical evidence found at the crime scene shed light on the brutality of the act. An FBI agent’s affidavit detailed the discovery of Dodge’s remains in a house on Great Plains Road in Arapahoe. The victim, aged between 30 and 40, showed signs of severe injuries including blunt force trauma, sharp force wounds, mutilation of the face, and cuts on the left arm. The gruesome nature of the injuries painted a grim picture of the violence inflicted upon Dodge.

Witness testimonies revealed the events leading up to Dodge’s tragic death. Oldman, along with his three accomplices and Dodge, had been in the basement of the house drinking vodka.
