Important Announcements for Oct. 3, 2025 from the University of Delaware

The University of Delaware community is buzzing with recent publications, presentations, honors, and appointments by faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Let’s take a closer look at some of the exciting updates:

In the realm of publications, Margaret Stetz, the Mae and Robert Carter Professor of Women’s Studies and humanities professor, has made significant contributions to two scholarly volumes. She penned the chapter “Wilde and Women” for Oxford University Press’s “Oxford Handbook of Oscar Wilde,” edited by Kate Hext and Alex Murray. Additionally, Stetz authored “The New Woman and Victorian Feminism” for “Michael Field in Context,” edited by Sarah Parker and published by Cambridge University Press. The latter work delves into the lives and writings of Katharine Bradley and Edith Cooper, a Victorian queer aunt-and-niece duo who wrote under the pseudonym “Michael Field.” Stetz had previously co-edited the first collection of essays on their work in 2007 titled “Michael Field and Their World.”

Another notable publication comes from Micki Burdick, assistant professor of women and gender studies, who is set to release a chapter in the upcoming book “When Roe Fell: How Barriers, Inequities, and Systemic Failures of Justice in Abortion Became Visible,” to be published by Rutgers University Press. Burdick’s contribution, titled “‘This Right Here Is a Baby’: White Evangelical Women in the Pro-Life Movement,” sheds light on the significance of crisis pregnancy centers in the pro-life movement.

On the academic front, Barton Willage, assistant professor of economics at UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, has recently published two peer-reviewed articles in top-tier health economics journals. Willage’s work showcases his expertise and dedication to advancing economic research in the field of healthcare.
