Econocom acquires integrators in the UK and Ireland for M&A deal

Econocom, a leading European IT integrator, has expanded its offerings in the ProAV and digital signage space by acquiring two systems integrators. In the UK, Econocom has taken over the assets of Smartcomm, which faced insolvency in February 2025. Additionally, the Belgian-French group has secured a 67% stake in the AV integrator Image Supply Systems in Ireland. These acquisitions mark Econocom’s commitment to bolstering its presence in the ProAV and digital signage sectors across Europe.

With the recent addition of Smartcomm and Image Supply Systems to its portfolio, Econocom aims to strengthen its capacity to deliver and manage complex ProAV and digital signage projects in the UK and Ireland. By integrating over 55 AV specialists from these acquisitions into its existing teams, the company now offers comprehensive services encompassing consulting, design, installation, integration, maintenance, and support for ProAV and digital signage projects in the region.

Smartcomm, a well-established systems integrator based in the UK, has built a solid reputation for its work in corporate, university, and public sector projects. On the other hand, Image Supply Systems Audio Visual (ISSAV) in Dublin, Ireland, boasts a diverse customer base of more than 150 organizations spanning the education, public, and corporate sectors. Econocom’s acquisition of a majority stake in ISSAV, while allowing the existing owners to retain a minority stake, demonstrates the company’s strategic focus on expanding its foothold in the AV integration market.

These acquisitions are part of Econocom’s broader €225 million investment initiative aimed at consolidating fragmented national AV markets across Europe.
