Talbots acquires Tinsdills as mergers and acquisitions activity increases

Talbots, based in Stourbridge, has recently made an exciting strategic move by acquiring Tinsdills Solicitors. This acquisition marks Talbots’ expansion into North Staffordshire and Cheshire, adding to its existing offices in the Black Country, Birmingham, Coventry, Shropshire, and Worcestershire. The addition of Tinsdills brings the total number of offices under Talbots’ umbrella to 19, including locations in Leek, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Sandbach, and Stoke-on-Trent.

Tinsdills Solicitors, a well-established firm with roots dating back to 1580, has 85 staff members who will now join Talbots. The blending of these two firms creates one of the largest and fastest-growing legal entities in the Midlands region. Peter Hamilton, Business Owner and Chairman of Tinsdills Solicitors, expressed his enthusiasm about the merger, stating that while their name will retire, the move presents a chance to enhance client service and drive growth.

In 2021, Talbots transitioned to an employee-owned trust and has actively pursued acquisitions in recent years. This forward momentum includes the integration of Sarginsons Law, Wright Solicitors, and Scaiff LLP, contributing to Talbots’ revenues exceeding £40 million. The decision to join forces with Tinsdills was a natural one, as both firms share a commitment to supporting local communities and businesses. Talbots’ CEO Dave Hodgetts highlighted the mutual values and dedication to service that solidified the partnership.
