MarinHealth Settles $3 Million Class Action Lawsuit Over Website Privacy – Claim Depot
Consumers who accessed the MarinHealth Medical Center website between August 1, 2019, and May 27, 2025, may qualify for a cash payment ranging between $78 and $261 as part of a class action settlement worth $3 million.
The lawsuit against MarinHealth Medical Center alleged that they inappropriately shared personal or health information of website users with third parties like Facebook and Google using Meta Pixel tracking technology. This practice raised concerns about privacy violations and led to the legal action.
Individuals eligible for the settlement include MarinHealth Medical Center patients, California residents, or any member of the public who visited the medical center’s website during the specified period. The settlement administrator would identify eligible class members based on their website activities during the defined class period.
Claimants who are approved for the settlement will receive a pro-rata cash payment, with estimates ranging from $78 to $161. The final payout amount will depend on the total number of claims filed by eligible individuals seeking compensation for privacy violations.
To claim a settlement payment, class members must submit a claim form before the deadline of September 24, 2025. Several options are available for filing a claim, including online submissions for those with a claim ID and PIN or the option to file online without these details. Alternatively, claimants can download and print personalized claim forms for mailing to the settlement administrator.
It is important to note that supporting documentation is not required to submit a claim, although additional information may be requested by the settlement administrator during the claim review process. Claimants can choose to receive their settlement payment through digital methods like PayPal or Venmo or opt for a traditional paper check sent to the address provided on the claim form.
The $3 million settlement fund will cover costs related to settlement administration and notices, attorneys’ fees and costs, service awards to class representatives, as well as the payments to eligible class members. The remainder of the net settlement fund will be distributed pro-rata among claimants who have successfully filed claims.
Key dates to keep in mind include the deadline to exclude oneself from the settlement by August 25, 2025, the last day to file a claim by September 24, 2025, and the fairness hearing scheduled for October 20, 2025. Approved claimants can expect to receive their settlement payments approximately 65 days after final approval by the court or completion of the claim processing, depending on which event occurs later.
The decision to settle the class action lawsuit was part of MarinHealth Medical Center’s commitment to resolving the claims related to the unauthorized sharing of user information with third parties. As part of the settlement agreement, MarinHealth agreed to remove Meta Pixel technology from its websites and promised not to reinstall it without obtaining the necessary consent from website users.
