Government officials express worry about significant vulnerability in Tesla’s autonomous taxi launch — here’s what is at risk

The questions posed by the NHTSA center around how Tesla plans to ensure the safety of robotaxi operations under challenging visibility conditions such as sun glare, fog, dust, rain, and snow.

One of the main focal points of the NHTSA inquiry is whether Tesla’s safety protocols for robotaxi operations will adapt based on the timing of a ride. Tesla is expected to provide detailed responses to these concerns by June 19, just a week after their projected launch date of the robotaxi service, also coined the “Cybercab,” in Austin as reported by Bloomberg.
