Apple settles lawsuit for $95 million: How much could you receive from Siri settlement?

The class action period runs from Sept. 17, 2014, to Dec. 31, 2024, spanning over a decade of Siri use. While $95 million may not be a significant hit to Apple’s profits, the allegations in the lawsuit suggest that the company may not always keep its promises when it comes to safeguarding user privacy.

The lawsuit also raises concerns about voice assistants listening in on private conversations and sharing that information without consent. Similar lawsuits have been filed against other tech giants like Google. The fact that Apple chose to settle rather than fight the allegations may suggest that there is credibility to the claims made by the plaintiffs.

In some cases, the plaintiffs noted that mentioning specific products or medical treatments led to targeted ads, suggesting that Siri may have been listening in more than intended. While Apple is not the only tech company facing such lawsuits, this settlement serves as a reminder of the importance of privacy and transparency in the digital age.
