Medline Files Draft Registration Statement for IPO

Medline Inc. has taken a step towards going public by submitting a draft registration statement for its proposed IPO. They confidentially filed the statement on Form S-1 with the SEC. The number of shares to be offered and the price range have not been decided yet, pending market conditions and SEC approval. Medline was established in 1966 by Jon and Jim Mills and began as a textile manufacturer. Over the years, they expanded into injection molding and diversified into the long-term care industry in the 1980s. Medline also started distributing healthcare products from other brands in 1996.

In October 2023, Medline sold its DMEPOS supplier business unit to Home Care Delivered. According to Reuters, Medline could potentially have a valuation of up to $50 billion, with stock sales projected to bring in as much as $5 billion. The company’s CEO, Jim Boyle, who joined in 1996 and became CEO in 2023, was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare. Medline’s supply chain also received a Best in Business award for 2024, highlighting their commitment to customer service and teamwork.

While we eagerly await further details about the IPO, it’s clear that Medline’s journey from a textile manufacturer to a leading healthcare manufacturer-distributor has been marked by innovation and growth. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development!
