Teaser Photo Leak Reveals Possible Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware Upgrade

One might wonder why Nintendo hasn’t formally introduced its promised Switch successor yet. But with the increasing number of leaks, it’s safe to say a launch is on the horizon. The latest leak shows us several views of the upcoming handheld’s motherboard and hardware components.

Shared on Reddit by user MHN1994, the leaked photos give us a glimpse of what’s to come. While we wait for Nintendo’s official announcement, President Shuntaro Furukawa mentioned in May that they plan to reveal the successor to the Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year, which ends in March, so we might get the news in the next few months.

In November, Furukawa confirmed on Twitter that the next console will have some level of backwards compatibility with the current Switch lineup. The recent leaks suggest Nintendo will stick with NVIDIA’s Tegra system-on-chip, maintaining compatibility with the current generation.

Rumors point to the Switch 2 featuring a custom NVIDIA Tegra T239 chip, a streamlined variant with improved performance, including potential support for real-time ray tracing and DLSS. The leaked images also indicate a significant memory upgrade to 12GB LPDDR5X-8533, compared to the current models with 4GB of RAM.
