Rally to Sue Congressmembers for Genocide Funding
On December 19th in San Francisco, human rights activists from six Northern California counties are filing a class action lawsuit against Rep. Mike Thompson and Rep. Jared Huffman for financing the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The lawsuit is calling taxpayers from Marin, Sonoma, Solano, Napa, Lake, Yolo, Mendocino, Trinity, Humboldt, and Del Norte Counties to join in holding Reps. Thompson and Huffman accountable for using federal tax dollars to fund genocide. Both representatives endorsed an additional $26.38 billion in military aid to Israel, despite opposition from their constituents and evidence suggesting Israel’s use of US-provided weapons to carry out genocide in Gaza. Multiple human rights organizations, including the International Court of Justice, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the UN Special Rapporteur have all issued reports indicating that Israel’s actions constitute genocide. The Congressional vote to continue funding this genocide is not only unethical but also illegal under both US and International Law.
