“Bears’ Coaching Assignments Revealed Following Eberflus Dismissal”
The Chicago Bears have made some game-changing decisions in light of their recent challenges. Just this week, the Bears have promoted wide receivers coach Chris Beatty to the interim offensive coordinator position, and also named defensive coordinator Eric Washington as the defensive play caller. These moves come following last week’s removal of former head coach Matt Eberflus.
Now, stepping up to the plate as the Interim head coach is Thomas Brown. Brown will continue calling offensive plays, but you can catch him doing it from the field, which is pretty exciting to see. Brown was promoted from his position as passing game coordinator, stepping in for OC Shane Waldron after the Bears parted ways with him three weeks prior.
While Eberflus, previously a defensive coordinator, used to serve as the team’s defensive play caller, changes were inevitable. The firing of Eberflus happened last Friday, a day after an utterly tough game resulting in the Bears’ sixth consecutive defeat. Some tough calls had to be made. Trailing 23-20 on Thanksgiving Day, the Bears were within field-goal range, but things quickly turned sour. Quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked, and with only 32 seconds left on the clock, they missed their chance—the Bears lost again.
Eberflus defended his choices, stating that everything was handled properly. But, in the end, results are what matters most in this competitive field. The 54-year-old Eberflus had a record of 14-32 in his two-plus seasons as coach.
With a 4-8 standing, the Bears are now geared up to take on the 5-7 San Francisco team in Week 1. It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold with these fresh faces at the helm. Let’s keep our eyes peeled for more exciting updates as the Bears continue to navigate this season.
