BMLL Expands into Options Amid Rising Market Data Costs

BMLL, a provider of harmonized historical data and analytics, has ventured into the world of options trading as global trading volumes reach record highs. This marks the first time BMLL has expanded beyond its usual focus on equities, exchange-traded funds, and listed futures.

According to Paul Humphrey, CEO of BMLL, navigating options data comes with its unique set of challenges. He mentioned, “Options data is sourced from the same exchanges we work with, but it brings its own complexities due to the sheer volume of data involved.”

This year, the options data landscape saw a significant increase when OPRA (Options Price Reporting Authority) expanded its data dissemination from 48 lines to 96 lines in February. OPRA, known for distributing consolidated last sale and quote data in the US, plays a crucial role in the options market.

As BMLL steps into this new territory, the company is poised to bring its data expertise to the world of options trading. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the realm of market data analytics.
