New Stock Exchange to Launch in 2025 with 23-Hour Trading

A new stock exchange is gearing up to launch in 2025 with a unique offering: 23-hour trading sessions. 24 Exchange, the platform behind the venture, made the announcement, declaring their intent to provide nearly around-the-clock trading on weekdays, pending the green light from regulatory bodies.

The 24X National Exchange is set to kick off in the latter half of 2025, with trading hours spanning from 4:00 a.m. ET to 7:00 p.m. ET during the workweek. The exchange plans to eventually extend trading hours from 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday through 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday, with a daily one-hour break. However, this extended schedule is contingent on final approvals from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Expanding trading times seems to be a growing trend, with various brokerage firms like Robinhood Markets and Interactive Brokers already offering extended trading options on select securities to their clientele. The shift comes alongside the popularity of cryptocurrencies, which are known for trading around the clock, including weekends and holidays.

24 Exchange’s CEO and Founder, Dmitri Galinov, emphasized the need to address the risk traders face when markets close in their local time zones. The 24X National Exchange aims to mitigate this issue by facilitating 24-hour U.S. equities trading for broker-dealers and their institutional and retail customers.

In its initial stages, 24 Exchange plans to focus on meeting the demand in the Asia Pacific region for overnight liquidity in U.S. equities. This move marks a significant step forward in the evolution of stock trading, offering market participants more flexibility and accessibility in conducting transactions.
