Argentine cement market grows by 17% in March

Cement consumption in Argentina saw a significant increase of 16.7% year over year in March 2025, totaling 740,205 tons compared to 634,342 tons in March 2024, as reported by the country’s cement association, AFCP. The month-on-month comparison also showed a slight uptick of 0.7% in March.

In March 2025, domestic cement producers in Argentina manufactured a total of 747,934 tons, which is a significant 17.1% increase from the output of 638,824 tons in March 2024. Of this production, 7791 tons were exported, marking a notable increase of 63.9% from 4753 tons in March 2024.

Imported cement supplements contributed 61 tons to the production in Argentina in March 2025, which is a decrease from 271 tons during the same period in the previous year.

For the first quarter of 2025, the cement demand in Argentina increased by 10.6% year over year to 2.307 million tons from 2.085 million tons in the first quarter of 2024. During this period, the country’s cement producers saw an 11% rise in output, reaching 2.332 million tons from 2.1 million tons in the same period of the previous year. Additionally, exports of 24,971 tons marked a 54.4% increase year over year from 16,173 tons.

Imports of cement in Argentina experienced a decline of 62.5% year over year in the first quarter of 2025, amounting to 618 tons compared to 1650 tons in the equivalent period of the previous year.

In Pakistan, the cement industry saw a variable impact after the government announced reductions in electricity rates designed to support the sector. The move intended to provide relief to cement manufacturers to improve their profitability.

Meanwhile, cement prices in China are witnessing a strong rebound as producers work towards enhancing their overall profitability. This positive development is a result of strategic efforts from cement manufacturers seeking to recuperate and improve their financial performance.

In India, the average cement consumption per capita in the fiscal year 2024-25 is approximately 290 kilograms. This data was highlighted in the recent publication of the Economic Survey for 2024-25, emphasizing the importance of the cement industry in the country’s economy.

Vietnam reports a significant increase in cement dispatches in February 2025, reflecting a growth of 62% year over year to 4,099,468 tons. This rise in cement dispatches in Vietnam suggests a strong market demand and positive growth trajectory for the industry in the country.
