Elon Musk backlash and aging models contribute to 13% drop in Tesla sales during first quarter
Tesla’s sales took a notable hit in the first quarter of the year, dropping by 13%. According to Dan Ives from Wedbush, the decline can be attributed to weak demand in markets like the United States, China, and Europe, where Tesla is encountering challenges.
Acknowledging the brand image crisis facing Tesla, Ives pointed out that Wall Street and industry experts foresaw underwhelming sales figures for the first quarter, although the actual decline surpassed expectations. Commenting on the grim outcome, he remarked that the numbers were subpar on all fronts. The stock value of Tesla has seen a significant plummet, dropping by 50% since its peak in mid-December amid changing regulatory expectations and business prospects following the Trump administration.
The decline in Tesla’s sales could be partially attributed to the protests and backlash against Musk’s political stances, but analysts are still evaluating the exact influence of these factors.
