San Angelo’s pOpshelf store to close as part of nationwide shutdowns
The San Angelo community is bidding farewell to the pOpshelf store as it joins the nationwide store shutdowns by Dollar General, its parent company. The store’s closing sale is ongoing, with discounts of up to 50% off, and all sales are final. Residents may have noticed revised store hours indicated on a sign posted on the door.
Dollar General recently announced its plans to shut down 96 Dollar General stores and 45 pOpshelf locations across the United States in the early months of 2025. The company explained that this decision is part of a strategic review aimed at optimizing its store portfolio to enhance operational efficiency and gauge store performance.
Introduced in 2020 by Dollar General, pOpshelf was envisioned as a destination for customers to find affordable, fun, and stress-free shopping experiences, with a focus on seasonal home decor, party supplies, and everyday household essentials. While the brand currently operates over 220 locations in 21 states, only around 175 pOpshelf stores are expected to remain operational following the closures.
The San Angelo branch, situated at 4151 Sunset Dr., is one of the locations affected by the shutdowns. However, an official closure date has not been announced for this store. Dollar General has yet to release a comprehensive list of all locations impacted by the closures and has not provided any further details in response to media inquiries. By analyzing store performance and operational conditions, Dollar General aims to optimize its store portfolio and enhance its overall operational efficiency.
San Angelo residents will need to bid farewell to pOpshelf but can look forward to the remaining branches offering continued access to affordable and enjoyable shopping experiences.
