Cheniere completes Train 1 at Corpus Christi Stage 3 Project
Cheniere Energy, Inc. announced the achievement of Substantial Completion of Train 1 at the Corpus Christi Stage 3 Liquefaction Project on March 16, 2025. This significant milestone marks the completion of construction and commissioning activities for Train 1, undertaken by Bechtel Energy, Inc., Cheniere’s engineering, procurement, and construction partner. The completion of Train 1 signifies the start of LNG production, with Cheniere now overseeing its operations and financial results.
Jack Fusco, Cheniere’s President and CEO, highlighted the successful completion of Train 1 ahead of schedule and within budget. He praised the joint efforts of the Cheniere and Bechtel teams in delivering excellence in the project’s execution. Fusco emphasized that the focus now shifts to bringing the remaining trains online ahead of schedule to meet the growing demand for LNG and generate long-term value for stakeholders through responsible, brownfield growth strategies.
The full notice to proceed for the Corpus Christi Stage 3 Project was granted to Bechtel in June 2022. Train 1 began LNG production in December 2024, with the first cargo loaded in February 2025. The Stage 3 project includes seven midscale trains expected to produce over 10 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG. As of January 31, 2025, overall project completion stood at 78.3%, with significant progress made in engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontract work. Upon the completion of all seven trains, the Corpus Christi liquefaction facility’s total production capacity will exceed 25 mtpa of LNG.
