Cathay Home Inc. strengthens its position in the industry through strategic acquisitions and new initiatives
Cathay Home Inc., a key player in the home textiles industry, is solidifying its position through strategic acquisitions and a significant manufacturing expansion. With a history spanning over two decades in crafting top-tier home textile products, Cathay Home has become known for its commitment to innovation, quality, and efficiency.
In recent developments, Cathay Home Inc. has successfully acquired two reputable home textile companies, bolstering its product range and retail partnerships. The acquisition of Sunham Home in December 2024 has enriched Cathay Home’s offerings with a range of luxurious bedding and bath products, such as towels and bath accessories. This move has not only diversified Cathay Home’s product line but has also expanded its sourcing capabilities in India and Pakistan, crucial regions for premium textile production. By acquiring Sunham, Cathay Home has taken a significant step in strengthening its global supply chain. The acquisition also underscores Cathay Home’s commitment to customer satisfaction by ensuring that Sunham continues to operate as a standalone entity, maintaining its existing infrastructure and leadership team. With a licensed brand portfolio that includes names like Lacoste, Anne Klein, and Splendid, Sunham Home’s integration into Cathay’s operations further bolsters the company’s already extensive product lineup.
Similarly, the acquisition of Royal Heritage Home in June 2024 has reinforced Cathay Home’s expertise in cotton-based textiles and electric blankets, supplementing its existing range of microfiber products. The trusted retail partnerships of Royal Heritage Home have also expanded Cathay Home’s reach in the retail market.
In addition to these acquisitions, Cathay Home launched SOMN in September 2023, integrating mattresses into its product portfolio, demonstrating its commitment to providing holistic home solutions. As part of its strategic vision, Cathay Home is poised to enter the window treatment segment by introducing a new window division in the upcoming March 2025 market. This expansion marks Cathay Home’s ongoing dedication to innovation and leadership in the home textiles arena.
To support its growth trajectory, Cathay Home is making substantial investments in manufacturing, with plans to inaugurate a cutting-edge, vertically integrated facility in Nicaragua in 2025, with further expansions slated for 2026. This facility, set to be the largest home textile manufacturing site in the Americas, will offer duty-free trade benefits for the U.S. and Mexico, enhancing cost efficiency. With over 20 acres allocated to weaving, dyeing, printing, cutting, and sewing, the facility spanning 75 acres underscores Cathay Home’s emphasis on innovation and operational efficiency.
Steven Qian, CEO of Cathay Home, expressed optimism about the company’s future, saying, “These strategic acquisitions, coupled with our foray into new product categories, align with our growth strategy. The establishment of our vertical factory in Nicaragua sets the stage for further expansion and underscores our unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding products and service to our customers.”
