Conway Gower Promoted to Head of Marine and Energy Liability at Tokio Marine HCC International
In recent updates on International People Moves, Tokio Marine HCC International and the London-based broker, Miller, have announced significant appointments within their organizations. At Tokio Marine HCC International, Camilla Gower has been promoted to the position of head of Marine and Energy Liability. Gower, who previously served as senior underwriter in the Marine & Energy Liability division, brings over 15 years of experience in marine underwriting to her new role. Her promotion, effective April 1, will see her taking on the responsibility of leading the team and driving growth in a crucial market segment for the carrier. Reporting directly to Ben Kinder, the chief underwriting officer for Marine, Energy, and Renewables, Gower’s appointment underscores her integral role within the organization.
Camilla Gower’s career trajectory includes stints at prominent industry players such as StarStone Insurance, CNA Hardy, Aegis, and WTW. Her wealth of experience and expertise in marine underwriting positions her well to lead the Marine and Energy Liability team at TMHCCI. Commenting on Gower’s promotion, Ben Kinder noted her significant contributions to the team since joining in 2020, highlighting her as a natural fit for the leadership position. With a proven track record in the marine and energy insurance sector, Gower is poised to drive further success and growth in her new role.
On the other hand, Miller has introduced a new M&A and Strategic Solutions (MASS) team, comprising three senior hires who will strengthen the broker’s offerings in transactional risk insurance and specialist tax and contingent risk practices. Led globally by Andrew Johnson, Edwina Charlton, and Rupert Newman, the team represents a strategic move to enhance Miller’s capabilities in the M&A space. Andrew Johnson and Edwina Charlton bring extensive experience from legal backgrounds, having started their careers as M&A lawyers before transitioning to insurance with Marsh. Rupert Newman, who joins as the head of Broking, further bolsters the team’s expertise across legal, banking, and restructuring domains.
Based in London, the MASS team will operate within Miller’s Professional & Financial Risks business, catering to a diverse client base including private equity, hedge funds, corporates, and law firms. The team’s focus on domestic and cross-border risk advisory services aligns with the growing demand for specialized insurance solutions in the global market. Laura McDonough, head of Professional and Financial Risks at Miller, emphasized the strategic importance of launching MASS in response to increasing deal activity and the expanding role of tax and contingent risk insurance. With a growing team and enhanced capabilities, Miller is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of its clients and further solidify its reputation in the professional and financial risks sector.
