Students excel in international Bloomberg competition at School of Business
During the Fall 2024 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge, Clark University School of Business (CUSB) students showcased their skills and expertise on a global stage. Among more than 2,400 teams worldwide, former MSF students Heel Hareshkumar Patel, Durvesh Gurjar, and Sahan Maharjan utilized CUSB’s Bloomberg Terminals to practically apply their classroom knowledge. Under the guidance of Professor Steve Ng, an associate professor of practice at CUSB, the students focused on market analysis and risk management, choosing to trade crypto and technology stocks while adhering to set trading rules to optimize returns over a six-week period.
Their efforts paid off as they secured an impressive 16th position in North America and 51st globally. This achievement not only highlights the talents of the student team but also underscores CUSB’s commitment to equipping students for success in the financial industry. The success garnered by the students is a testament to their skills and dedication, demonstrating the effectiveness of CUSB’s hands-on learning approach in preparing students for real-world challenges in finance.
In a post-competition interview, the students shared insights into their experience. Heel Hareshkumar Patel mentioned that he discovered the competition through Clark University’s robust promotion of experiential learning opportunities, which enable students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios. Durvesh Gurjar echoed this sentiment, emphasizing how Clark consistently informs students of engaging opportunities to enhance their learning experiences. Sahan Maharjan reflected on their participation in the previous year’s competition, indicating a continued interest in such challenging events.
