Law firm Ropes & Gray strengthens M&A practice with new hire

Ropes & Gray is enhancing its M&A practice by bringing in a new partner who will be based in the firm’s New York office.

David Harris, the newest addition to the global law firm, will be joining the M&A practice in New York. Harris has a wealth of experience representing both public and private company clients in a variety of corporate matters. This includes handling cross-border public M&A transactions, joint ventures, carve-outs and spin-outs, minority investments, private equity and venture capital investments, leveraged buyouts, and restructurings.

In addition to his work in corporate matters, Harris also has experience advising on general corporate, board, and special committee matters. He has been involved in acquisitions and dispositions of asset management and other financial services firms. Some notable transactions that Harris has worked on include representing Angelo Gordon in its USD 2.7 billion sale to create TPG Angelo Gordon and assisting Fortress Investment Group in its acquisition of an asset management business.

Head of the M&A practice at Ropes & Gray, Chris Comeau, expressed his excitement about the new addition. Comeau highlighted Harris’s diverse industry experience, particularly in infrastructure, as a valuable asset to the already strong M&A practice. Comeau emphasized the importance of being able to help clients respond quickly to market demands and new investment opportunities and looks forward to introducing Harris to clients.

Co-managing partner of Ropes & Gray’s New York office, John Sorkin, also welcomed Harris to the firm.
